At Husk Interior Design, we collaborate to enrich your space and enhance well-being while remaining respectful of, and inspired by, nature.
Design & consulting services are informed by a diverse background in interior design, green building and healthcare.
Husk speaks to the natural world, to protection & envelopment, and is derived from 'huuskyn', 'little house'.
Principal and founder of Husk Interior Design, Sharon Hollingsworth's long-standing focus is green interior design. Sharon applies health science knowledge acquired through a medical laboratory career in paediatric microbiology to identify toxic building materials, research alternates and encourage transparency and innovation.

Our Services
Interior Design
Well-designed spaces endure time and bring joy.
Husk's design services follow the 'little house' origins of the name with a philosophy of 'small is beautiful', an emphasis on mindful choices and a knack for maximizing space. We work from the principle that everyone has the right to a healthy space, whether inside or outside of the built environment. Husk will listen intently and co-create a restorative personal space tailored to your values & lifestyle or a workplace aligned with your business ethics. In addition to green building expertise, Husk can also offer niche design guidance on how to welcome a pet rabbit into your home.
Child Care Centre Design
Child care spaces are best when efficient in function, yet home-like in feel.
Years at BC Children's Hospital & BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre fostered an awareness of the importance of supportive & healthy spaces for children and those who care for them. Sharon developed an interest in child care centre design while searching for part-time child care for twins and consequently selected an intergenerational shared site facility as the typology for her university capstone project. Sharon continues to be passionate about child care, staying current with regulations and guidelines, referencing Susan Old's seminal Child Care Design Guide and advocating for healthy spaces for our youngest population.
WELL Administration
WELL is a performance-based tool to advance health & well-being.
The 10 concepts of WELL – air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community – are informed by scientific research and applied to design, policy and operations. Sharon is an early adopter of the WELL Building Standard with a commitment of greater than 3000 hours over 9 years through WELL project administration, teaching, presentations and engagement with the International WELL Building Institute.
