WELL Consultation

Throughout her interior design career, Sharon has consistently applied health science knowledge to identify toxic materials and extensively research alternates, coordinating with suppliers to encourage transparency.

Years in the hospital environment and in support of non-profit organizations have allowed social implications to stand out from the more often discussed, and equally important, planetary impacts of the design & construction industry.

As a WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) No. 802, Sharon is one of the first in Vancouver BC to attain this designation, achieving the credential in July 2016.

WELL is a performance based tool advancing health & wellbeing under 10 concepts – air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community. Sharon is the WELL administrator for BentallGreenOak’s newest Vancouver tower, B6. The project has been taken from its early adopter WELL v1 registration, through multiple addenda in WELL v2 Pilot, and is currently adopting WELL v2, in whole or in part, after extensive comparative analysis. Sharon has integrated WELL into existing architectural specifications and enjoys the holistic experience of engaging with an expanded project team that includes human resources and facilities.

Greater than 2000 hours have been committed to WELL with:

  • WELL presentations at conferences, professional AGMs, firms and post-secondary institutions.

  • Ongoing one-on-one consultation with IWBI personnel.

  • Development of a study plan for WELL AP candidates to build the credential among local professionals.

  • Preparation of post-secondary assignments, specifically catered to WELL in areas of healthcare, hospitality and lighting, as developed for accredited interior design degree programs.

  • Attendance at all 100+ WELL webinars.

By working actively from inside a WELL project for 4 years, Sharon has become familiar with the intricacies of the standard. Tools and strategies have been built as a result of lessons learned and Husk can share these and provide information on the WELL Health & Safety Rating and WELL Portfolio.

Husk Interior Design is excited to partner with PD Group Interior Design Ltd. on WELL projects. For over 20 years, Anna Guner Johnson of PD Group has concentrated the majority of her design work providing expertise in office planning and assessing functional requirements of large dynamic organizations within government and commercial sectors. As registered interior designers, legacy LEED APs and WELL APs, Husk & PD Group maintain their focus on the innovative WELL Building Standard, offering previously lacking metrics on wellbeing in the built environment with WELL v2 and the WELL Health & Safety Rating.

When the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) released the WELL Building Standard in 2015, the ability to bridge health and wellbeing to environmental protection was strengthened while providing connection to a dedicated international community.
